CBT Carpet Recycling collects and processes post consumer and post industrial carpets and carpet pads. We can collect carpet from Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus in Ohio and Louisville, KY. We can only accept dry carpet for recycling.
Each year, roughly 2.5 million tons of waste carpet reaches landfills in the US. This accounts for almost 3% of total landfill space. Currently, less than 1% of this carpet is being recycled.
We try to find economically viable recycling options which will compete with the cost of disposal. The cost of recycling carpet is roughly the same as the costs associated with hauling carpet to landfill, which takes up a huge volume of space. Carpet is burned as waste to energy. Up to 15% of waste carpet is garbage and therefore non-recyclable.
